What is carbon steel pipe?
The Carbon Steel Pipe is made up of the durable carbon steel material, which is basically a steel alloy with carbon and iron in its chemical composition. It is high in strength and can withstand stress very effectively. This is why these pipes are widely used in heavy duty industries like infrastructure, shipping, chemical fertilizer equipment, and many more. These pipes can be customized according to the specifications given by the clients. One of the best things about these pipes is their environmental friendliness. They are very cost-effective too. The material is quite versatile and the pipes can be cut and welded to fit individual needs.
difference between Carbon Steel Welded Pipe and Carbon Steel Seamless Pipe
The Carbon Steel Welded Pipe is manufactured using a flat steel plate with welding seam present on the body of the pipe. This would include pipes manufactured by various welding processes like ERW black carbon steel pipe, LSAW pipe, and SSAW pipe.
The Carbon Steel Seamless Pipe is manufactured by round billet, through processes such as hot rolling, cold rolling, and cold drawn process. As they are manufactured from a single piece, hence there are no seams present in its body.
The seamless pipes are less prone to leakage due to the absence of seams, unlike the welded pipes which are quite weak at the seams. Also, the seamless pipes are more expensive than the welded ones since they are manufactured from a single plate.
Difference between High/ Low/ Medium/ Fully Killed/ Normalized/ Plain and Quenching carbon steel pipe
The primary difference between high, medium, and low carbon steel pipes is in their chemical composition and the amount of carbon content. The high carbon steel pipe has more than 0.6% carbon, whereas the medium carbon steel pipe contains between 0.3% to 0.6% carbon. And, for the low carbon steel pipes, it contains less than 0.3% carbon. Higher the carbon content, the harder and stronger the pipe is.
When the carbon steel has been deoxidized fully before the casting process, and no gas was evolved during the solidification process, then the concerned carbon steel can be termed as fully killed.
The normalized CS Seamless Pipe is basically done by a unique process wherein the steel is heated up to an elevated temperature, and then it is slow cooled at room temperature.
The plain carbon steel can be described as an iron-carbon alloy wherein their properties are derived from the presence of carbon in the chemical composition.
The quenching process of the carbon steel involves raising the temperature of the steel above its recrystallization temperature and then rapidly cooling it.
3 Key Points to Choosing the Right Carbon Steel Pipe manufacturers in India?
In order to choose the right Carbon Steel Pipe Suppliers and manufacturers, clients should keep in mind the following points:
Difference between galvanized carbon steel pipe and Carbon Steel ERW pipes?
The galvanized carbon steel pipe basically has its surface coated by a protective layer of zinc. This basically serves as a sacrificial layer, and it helps the carbon steel to increase its resistance against corrosion. They also increase its capability to resist oxidation and improve its overall surface appearance. Herein, a hot-dip process takes place by submerging the carbon steel into a bath of molten zinc.
The Carbon Steel Erw Pipe comes with an extra black polish on its surface which helps to increase its corrosion resisting properties. Herein, the pipes are manufactured by cold forming the carbon steel into pipe. Here, the carbon steel plate is rolled and the seams are electrically welded to form the pipe.
