The Monel Pipe is made up of an alloy which consists of nickel and copper in its chemical composition. It offers good resistance in marine water environments, and can show good resistance in acidic and several other corrosive media. It is widely found in the chemical plant equipment, distillation tower, heat exchanger, and many more. The Monel Tube material can be hardened by cold working and they show excellent weldability. The material is also known for its high strength and high resistance to corrosion. It might display a low strength in the annealed condition, but shows some great mechanical properties at sub-zero temperatures. They can be effectively used up to the temperature of 538 degrees C.
The Monel K500 Pipe material is made up of nickel and copper alloy, which is work hardenable. It has high strength and non-magnetic properties. These pipes are found in cable wraps, submarine parts, marine equipment, etc., as they can resist the chloride environment. The Monel K500 Tube has high strength corrosion fatigue and shows good resistance to erosion. The material is precipitation hardenable due to the presence of aluminum and titanium in the chemical composition. The Alloy K500 Pipe material has thrice the yield strength and twice the tensile strength, when compared to MONEL 400, and it can be further strengthened before precipitation hardening by the process of cold working.
The K500 material shows some great mechanical properties, within the temperature range of sub-zero to about 480 degrees C. They are also known for possessing great corrosion resistance properties in a wide range of marine and chemical environments. The material is non-magnetic and thus, should be annealed when welded.
